The painting transcends simple representation of the flowers, becoming a portal to the inner world. The irises, shrouded in shadow and emerging from the gloom, symbolize the hidden depths of the psyche, the thoughts and feelings that bloom in the quiet spaces. The indistinct forms and blurred edges evoke the fluidity of dreams and memories.
The dark, almost abstract background acts as a mirror, reflecting the viewer's own inner landscape. It invites introspection, encouraging us to explore the shadowy corners of our own consciousness.
The thick, impasto application of paint creates a tactile experience. We can almost feel the rough texture of the petals and the weight of the paint. This isn't just a visual representation, but a translation of the sensory world onto canvas.
In this painting I tried to capture the intangible, the feeling of awe and wonder that arises from encountering beauty in the face of the unknown.
