Original artwork description:

This painting was created in quite a spontaneous way. I used masking tape to mask out the structure of the composition and then used soft pastel colours to counter-balance the rigid metallic shapes. The overall effect is a bit like the iridescence that is given off by a film of oil on water that is hit by the light.
