Original artwork description:

Intuition is part of my series of meadow paintings, following the story of the wild meadow next door to my home over the period of a year.

In the week of the Summer Solstice, I felt even more drawn to the wild tangles & abundance of so many varying wild flowers, grasses & insects. I realised that my daily visit to look at the meadow has become a source of rest & peace in a very profound way. As my mind became lost in the movement of the grasses in the breeze, the way the light dapples through distant trees I became more intune with my inner instincts as my left brain thoughts were put aside.

Listening to that intuition is so vital. You know, that instant first gut feeling you get about a person, a situation, a decision. It comes from a primeval deep connection to life & is always right. Sometimes it is only the briefest second before the thinking brain takes over & persuades us through logic or experience to behave or react differently. Throughout life it's proven over & over again that ignoring that real true instinct always leads me astray. Ignoring it's message takes me to situations which really don't work for my well-being.

It's taking time to be in places which quiet the mind which help to get back in tune with intuition & instinct. Stilling the thoughts & taking a moment just to get in touch with what feelings come from the heart & the soul & are indeed our real truth.

The meadow is just one of those places, each day offering something new.

'Intuition' was painted as a direct response to an evening sitting amongst the buttercups, grasses & sorrel seeds of the meadow. It is painted on deep profile canvas which is painted around the edges, ready to hang or to frame with a tray frame. It brings with it a sense of the summer evening on the longest day. A day when somehow we are closest to deeper selves.

Its tones of gold, chres, magenta & purple amongst golden green & dappled light take the mind to that magical. peaceful place where the mind can rest.

Materials used:

oil, acrylic
