Undaunting, dynamic and spirited, the power and awesomeness of nature!
The original intention for this piece was allowed to deviate from a skyscape into this dynamic and dramatic seascape. The more that I study the dynamics of storms and weather systems I see how much they share with the sea, so it doesn't surprise me that the detour presented itself. Much of this was to do with my choice of colour palette. Here I used the richness of pure powdered Prussian Blue pigment, applied with a large palette knife, to build up texture, always observing the dynamics of the subject.
My aim was to create a wonderful sense of being in the moment, to feel the majesty and power of nature.
The front is signed with my monogram signature discreetly placed in the bottom left corner and this piece is also signed, dated and authenticated on the reverse.
Archival Properties:
An application of a permanent acrylic isolation layer varnish is applied to protect the painted surface, then a coat of an archival mineral spirit based matt/satin sheen varnish is finally applied to protect the surface from environmental pollution. The archival varnish could be removed to aid with future restoration with the isolation layer providing a permanent protection to the underlying paint pigments.
Acrylic with pure powdered Pigments. Acrylic Gloss Varnish Medium & Liquitex Soluvar Archival Varnish
