Into the Woods (2022) Original Oil Painting by Christina M Plichta

Painted on-site at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Features a view of an autumn woods in a spectrum of warm, uplifting colors. A Burning Bush shrub frames the far right corner with a mixture of leaves that have turned rich red and rose and leaves that are still green. A cerulean blue sky and a scattering of yellow and orange foliage fill the right side of the canvas, with a brilliant pink and peach maple as the focal point. The left side of the canvas is dominated by a tall white tree trunk with yellow and orange foliage, and a halo of deeper burgundy and rust foliage behind it. A smaller, brilliant yellow tree rests at the center. Soft autumn grasses frame the bottom of the canvas.
Painted in oil over casein paint with both palette knife and brush. The foliage is enhanced with thick texture applied with palette knife. The stretched canvas has painted sides and is wired on the back and ready-to-hang, or it may be framed if desired.
