When I was a teenager growing up in Oceanside, California, my mom had a stain glass business. Her work space was alive with her joy for color and line - and I utterly have absorbed this. In my life today as a sculptor, I have fed this love of line, but not so much for color - until now. This is my first painting of the five on arches gessoed paper. The color fields began with Lulworth Blue. A color I found from the Farrow and Ball collection. Recently I used it to paint a spare room for my mom’s new apartment. In this work, I wanted to create a palette that reminded me of my mom. My gratitude to her for showing me the joy of line and color.
