Contrast, impossible shadows, shapes appearing and disappearing, Into Darkness is a painting mixing sumi-e ink, acrylics and paint markers to create a strong composition reminiscent to constructuvist/Russian avantgarde art. The black background literally absorbs shapes - barely visible, the composition continues "into darkness" by showing black linework and shapes in the black background. But it is not only the colors that are in contrast - the circular, almost dynamic shapes contrast with the static linear shapes, creating a clash between geometric forms.
