"Infinite Jest" is a very dynamic and detailed abstract, mainly in various shades of blue with greys and greens as well. Some metallic blue and green paint is included that gives the work extra vibrancy. I painted it over several sessions, to allow the acrylic paint to dry. The artwork was built up in many layers of overlapping vertical shapes.
The title comes from the novel by David Foster Wallace, which is about a video that is so enthralling that viewers succumb to hunger and thirst as they cannot stop watching it. For me painting this piece felt like it could go on for ever, as it was difficult to know at which point to stop.
The end result is a piece that is endlessly absorbing and looks really good at distances ranging from several metres to very close up. It is ready to hang and would suit a variety of settings.
