This is another work where I depart from the impressionistic technique and place objects flat in the spirit of icon painting. Restricted red-blue color pallet of this painting refers to some sort of emotional discipline. Dominant colors are the most basic - red, blue and yellow.
To emphasize the archaism and certain prayerful concentration I artificially aged the plane of the painting.
The artwork depicts the Sun, the Lord of the World, higher power. Unfathomable and incompatible with the human senses. Instead of a head is a solar crown, instead of hands are claws of a monster. The sun holds a chalice in the manner of a Christian, thereby indicating (the requirement) the inevitability of the sacrifice. One of the cups is overturned, but there are many more. A personalized vase with a bouquet of flowers screams in horror. Flowers at the same time glow in the light of the Lord.
