Original artwork description:

My work is about exploring the materiality of paint in its own right. My canvas is my laboratory where paint is diluted, layered and allowed to take on a life of its own. It's like a reverse archaeology. I add layer upon layer of paint, ink, glitter, grit, sand and other materials to create a surface that is shaped by intimate gestures that reveal the process of their making alongside chance, accident and the passage of time. My paintings start with text, which I build up layer upon layer, until only residue of the words are left. They become like thoughts flowing through our minds, leaving a trace of their existence, staining our consciousness without us knowing they are there.

Materials used:

glitter, acrylic paint and acrylic ink
