This is the first creation for a NEW Series made from discarded Sail boat Sails. I love to take discarded items and refurbish them into works of art. I was able to obtain a large amount of Sailboat Sail material through an acquaintance that is a dear friend of my Sister. So I am going to re-purpose small sections of this sail material into works of art concerning sailing, sailboats, and tall ships. These section will not be perfect shapes. I want them look like torn sections of a lost ship. This first one of the series is called, " In the Stillness of the Night ... Amazing Grace! " It is based on he story of the ship captain John Newton around the year 1772. If you don't know this story you should check it out. It is my favorite Tall ship story because it always gives me hope to push on. This section of sail material measures approx. 20.5 inches by 33 inches. As you can see it is rustic. It is unraveled on the edges and wrinkled... like a piece of a sail found on the beach of a lost ship. I feel it would look great hung on a wall with tacks, or matching colored push pins. I think it looks awesome with the slight wrinkles and imperfections. You can even participate in the creation of this artwork by unraveling it more it you want to make it look more distressed. On this particular artwork i have not unraveled the edges yet, This way you can have the fun of doing that or i will do that for you before I send it.
I will roll this artwork up in a roll of cardboard and bubble wrap for it's protection.
