Original artwork description:

In the Spring meadow
Slate blue and violet sky,
Rain drifting across the Wiltshire landscape,
Illuminating the wild blossoms and flowers,
Colourful tulips and cowslips,
A beautiful place to be.

Words and expression of my experience in the fertile land of Hatch. A tranquil, local area near Shaftesbury where I live.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper 300gsm 140lb.
I used a wet on wet watercolour background and a four colour technique. I love painting dramatic skies and the looser the better when I create. I dropped on colours for the ethereal blossoms and created definition by going over the ridge in the background where the sky above was getting darker. As it moved across some light was starting to appear. It was so alluring and beautiful to see it, it inspired me to paint this scene.
For the detail of the flower meadow I used my Japanese mop squirrel hair brush, sable hair brush to paint the shapes and patterns. I have signed, dated and titled the artwork on the back. Signed on the front.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb, sable hair brush, Japanese mop squirrel hair brush, Windsor and Newton watercolours, Daniel Smith watercolours,
