This sky is full of colour, detail and variety like some of the wonderful sunsets we see. I love the patterns of cirrus clouds like wool being pulled and tried to find an equivalent in monotype using a cloth to wipe away ink. The intense light source illuminates the trees along the horizon - I kept these quite small to suggest the grand scale of the sky.

A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times. I incorporated textures by impressing inked up textured paper and fabric. I also used paper stencils to make the crisp edges.

Unmounted: It comes wrapped in tissue and plastic. Flat packed for UK and rolled in a wide strong tube for international shipping.
