In the reed beds
A gentle walk through the enclosed pathway,
Hearing the reed warblers, can’t see them,
I stop and paint this wild sanctuary,
Russet autumn colours ,
Tall and graceful reeds, not turned golden yet.
Words and thoughts of being at Shapwick nature reserve in the Avalon marshes of Somerset.
I created this original impressionist watercolour outside with a group of lady artists painting the colours in early November this year
I used Indian cotton rag paper and my Japanese watercolour set. I wet the paper lightly all over and began to use my busy Chinese brush sweeping a pale pink and peach for the background then applying by pressing, dabbing and dragging the paint on expressively to create the natural watercolour markings.
I enjoyed very much painting outside and great momentum within the art group.
Indian cotton rag paper, Japanese watercolours, bushy Chinese brush, small Chinese brush,
