This unusual and vivid work depicts the Luxembourg Gardens on a lazy summer afternoon. The heat is palpable, though the light might be waning slightly now, the first hints of dusk whispering perhaps, just a few more carefree hours to go, a few more hours before the bells of the nearby churches ring the hour of vespers, before the sky pinkens and the lights on the Eiffel Tower begin to flicker. But for now there is sun and fresh air, a game of cards and the muffled sounds of Paris. The work focuses on two people relaxing on a wall. It is a very warm work, and an ideal gift. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without the need for framing if wished.
