A moody seascape inspired by the light across the Swale, the band of sea separating the island of Sheppey from the mainland at Seaslater, Whitstable, Kent UK, one of my favourite locations to paint, dream, reflect, sketch while the oyster pickers hunt among the pebbles and mud at low tide on a still autumn day..

This painting is 24"x24" framed in a white floater and ready to hang. It was painted in my conservatory studio in early lockdown; I build my own canvases stretching the cotton duck and preparing it with acrylic primer before sloshing on the first coat of turpy red, I then begin painting with a brush before adding some impasto oil paint building the textures characteristic of my work.
