This painting 'In the heat of the day' is the second one of a series 'Night and Day'. The deep and vibrant orange colors refer to bright sunlight as we have here in southern Spain and invoke feelings of energy, liveliness, sparkle.
There are many layers of transparent and opaque paint in which I scratched and altered with all kinds of tools. This gives the work a lot of depth and visual texture.
