Original artwork description:

This particular canvas went through a number of transformations as it progressed – mainly with the background. I was always happy with the figure, but finally settled on a background that didn’t compete with the nude, but did provide a peaceful (as in ‘not too busy’ pictorially) and appropriate setting. The original drawings and colour block-in were done directly from the model in situ, and the painting was developed and completed in the studio from photos and a subsequent sitting – ok, ‘standing’ if you were to be pedantic
