An acrylic painting I made in Chamonix, France in the winter. The snow was heavy and blowing around in flurries. The trees had been green earlier in the day but very quickly became laden with snow, causing the branches on the central tree to droop and bend so much that I thought the branches would break.
In the distance the ranks of fir trees gradually disappeared from view. It was beautiful and bleak at the same time. I was glad to be inside painting.
The work is drawn from life outside the window, in charcoal, then painted in acrylic paint, thinly in some areas and thicker in others. The painting is made on a heavy weight acrylic Clairefontaine paper.
