Artwork description:

This print is from a series of prints I fondly call 'stitches as glitches' and is number 1 from a variable edition of 3. In this edition the image remains the same but the hand stitched glitches are unique.
It is printed from a polyester lithograph plate which can be fragile when inking it to print. I found it interesting to see how the image distorted and fractured as the plate built up accidental (and non accidental) marks the more it was used. The hand stitching takes the shape of these flaws and imperfections and is a memory of the process and journey. The stitched damage reflects the action of the hand holding the old celluloid doll.
The image goes to the paper's edge exploiting the beautiful deckle edge of the Somerset etching paper. You can also see the reverse of the print and the trace of the stitches in the last photograph.
