Original artwork description:
New painting from an upcoming series based on a small northern Italian town called Recoaro Terme close to where I first lived in Italy, just before the pandemic. The town felt like it was on pause, waiting to be restored back to its former glory as a spa town known for its mineral springs. Nietzsche stayed here and allegedly his visit inspired ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’. The local ski lift company folded recently and a lot of young people have left. There’s a lot of albergos slightly ruined but they’re so beautiful. I hope to go back one day as I also miss drinking Gingerino, a bit similar to Iron Bru, that’s made there.
