I spent a couple of hours at Shekinah Mission - a homeless hostel in Plymouth, I was getting some reference shots for a portrait project.
This woman who uses the facilities offered to sit for me. She was very reserved and wary of me, eventually she relaxed sufficiently to tell me a little bit of her story. It was sad - she has had a very difficult time, and I think it is etched on her face.
She asked that if I paint her, could I please call it 'In My Heart' in memory of her husband who had died a few months before.
My proceeds from the sale of this piece will be donated to Shekinah Mission.
Signed front and reverse, unframed - edges painted grey.
