Original artwork description:

"In deep water", from the series "Public, Private, Secret,” which relates to the three separate areas, sometimes overlapping, which we inhabit in our daily lives.
This series was started at the end of 2019 and well before the Covid 19 Pandemic started, but whilst working on this body of work Parr found her practice, not surprisingly, affected by this strange and difficult time.

As she continued on with this series, it become a perfect escapism, a freedom to experiment, explore and play with the narrative of our shifted reality following the Pandemic and more recently all the other other significant changes to our daily lives; Brexit, climate change, the war in Ukraine and rising energy and food prices. This series has become a diary of her daily thoughts and emotional reactions to her environment and the World we now find ourselves living in. The Artist always listens to Radio 4 whilst in her studio and this fuels her practice.
She employs dark saturated colour and intense spontaneous and often playful mark making to produce work that sometimes references the problems of the real world, and sometimes actively avoids it.
The painting is signed on the canvas side and ready to hang, and shows some signs of the painting process to the canvas sides.
