Artwork description:

You may have seen this lady elsewhere on the web, she often turns up in widely shared blog posts like "25 Strange Old Halloween Photos From The Past", you know the sort of thing. At least the original photo that I've used for this piece does, not this iteration of her. Make no mistake, the photo you see elsewhere on the web is mine, it's been stolen and shared 1000s of times, but I own the original photo!

So the Harvest Queen was my chance to give her a fitting presence deserving of the majesty she presents in the photo. Yes it's odd and uncanny, those massive pumpkins, the vacant mask, the strange light, but it's also beautiful. With a bit of Annwn magic, she is now something else, a wildling, a feral Queen, the one they dedicate the harvest to.

The image is made up from a number of different elements, old photos, digital paint, etc and Giclée printed with original Canon Lucia inks on heavyweight matte 308gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper. It is signed on and has the image's title in pencil. This piece has been exhibited at Oriel Ty Meirion.

Materials used:

Old photos, digital manipulation, giclée print inks on 308gsm rag paper.
