Original artwork description:

I was creating this painting, using Watercolor and Gouache, on a windy morning outside at the Italian Riviera Coast. I was reflecting about the importance of light - which has also to come from within.
This artwork in its violet, yellow and turquoise tones is oscillating between different emotional expressions: a melancholic atmosphere is constrasting with the bright light that seems to inhabit the sea and mountians from deep within.
With its emphasized outlines and its expressive color palette, this artwork is reminding of the art of the symbolists, at the beginning of the 20th century, for example the artist Ferdinand Hodler...
While painting I am always following my intuition, and the seascape is reflecting in a symbolic way my inner landscape, or should I say, soulscape...
