To be able to fly like the birds seems so fascinating. Crows and/Ravens have always interests me...I think they are one of the most mysterious creatures in the world.
I integrated charcoal & graphite on this piece. Charcoal powder is diluted for the background. The eye is selectively colored in red to portray some sort of "possession" so as to add more mystery to it's overall composition.
I'm actually hoping to convey that sort of "danger" Climate Change could cause through this image...I think if we humans won't believe and actually listen to scientists perhaps animals could give us a "warning" of the truth behind what is impending...
Parts of the feathers are drawn in coal we usually use in our garden (for our orchids) to add more depth. Coal has long been the primary power source in my home country (the Philippines), and large-scale power plants act as a safety crutch in the country’s quest for energy security. But the advent of cost-efficient renewable energy technologies is challenging coal’s dominance as the go-to energy source. Climate change is coal’s most serious, long-term, global impact. Chemically, coal is mostly carbon, which, when burned, reacts with oxygen in the air to produce carbon dioxide, a heat-trapping gas. When released into the atmosphere, carbon dioxide works like a blanket, warming the earth above normal limits.
