In this piece 'Star Float' I wanted to capture how the feeling of being immersed in water is a near out of world experience when it comes to its effects on the mind and body. The weightlessness and near silence experienced by the swimmer when submerged can be paralleled by those experienced in outer space. I wanted to highlight these similarities in this piece. The sparkles of reflected light of the water, deep shadows and swirling ripples are a nod to distant galaxies and stars one can observe when looking into the night sky.
This work is painted on a gallery wrapped, deep edged canvas. The painting continues around the edge and thus can be hung unframed.
