Original artwork description:

Part of a new series of artworks that are drawn on to canvas and sealed with acrylic binder, meaning it is ready to hang as it is.

The artwork depicts a seemingly distressed man with his face blurred upwards, symbolising a sort of philosophical ascension or illumination.

The drawing was created using a range of black and white pastels, on canvas. I choose to draw in greytone to emphasise the values, creating dramatic lighting and a deep atmosphere. The resulting image is realistic, yet expressive.
