Fruit is hardly ever the theme of my drawings, not because I like it less than flowers, but simply because I don't often find the image that captures me and gives me the right inspiration. In this case, the drops on these apples really did it for me. The apple in itself is a particular fruit, one that is linked to tales, legends, historical episodes, it is considered the fruit of the original sin but also a perfect form with wonderful colours depending on the variety. If then on its waxy peel small droplets preceding others that come together as they slip until they create heavier drops that are ready to fall off onto the ground, my artist's eye is captured.
It is the first time that in a drawing of mine I portrayed water and since there is a lot of it on these apples but also a lot of light shining on them, I figured a storm had just ran its course and that gave way to the warm rays of the Sun, hence the title Sun after the Rain.
