Really nice small sculpture carved in black walnut wood. Yakisugi and natural oil finish. The postument is oak. Signature is incised on the bottom of the piece
(Yakisugi is traditinal Japanese technique of preserving wood where the surface is cautiously charred, thus closing wood's grain and creating a protective layer - the piece is than subsequently polished and covered with natural oil - not only it makes sculptures last - it also opens interesting visual possibilities of emphasizing form and wood's grain)

The photographs on white background show the wood coloration in natural cool daylight; on the studio photos on the black background the piece has been spotlit by simple warm-light LED placed next to it (which clearly works good as display setting)
