Whilst abstract or mysterious, the biomorphic, sensual forms in this work are evocative of natural organisms or bodies, exploring the interplay of the corporeal and the spiritual.

The process of making the piece involves a careful consideration of the way that the forms, colours and negative and positive space relate to one another within the grid formation to create an overall sense of harmony or equilibrium. I am interested in the creation of atmosphere and feeling through purely abstract means, and the artwork as a source of imaginative potential. This painting draws influence in particular from modernist abstraction and surrealism as well as the minimalism of Sol Lewitt.
