Feelings, like barbed wire, cling to the skin, leaving traces—marks we brand onto ourselves to remember how much it hurts. We hold love at a distance, cornered, until we become hostages of our own scars and fears. Looking at this wire, I realize it’s not just about love for another. It’s about self-love we keep fenced off, afraid to face who we might become if we dared to accept ourselves without excuses.
In this context, love is a prisoner of our inner world, a reflection of the personal prison created by trauma and prejudice. It yearns for freedom but confronts the barriers we impose upon ourselves, projecting our fears onto the object of love. This work serves as a reminder that true freedom is only possible when one dares to dismantle their internal barbed-wire fences and allows love to manifest in its true, unbounded form

This conceptual art piece features a phrase crafted from barbed wire, firmly attached to a textured canvas. The wire, twisted into rings, evokes the image of fences, creating a visual and emotional association with restriction, pain, and the suppression of freedom. The canvas, marked by textures resembling scratches from nails, enhances the impression of inner struggle. These scratches symbolize the futile attempt to break free, to overcome the barriers we build for ourselves.
