Original artwork description:
An painting with colour, texture and more of an idea behind it than my usual work. The tree and background is painted from life but I wanted to create a strange atmosphere so I chose a title to evoke a mood. The cat was there and it was casting menacing glances from behind the tree so the idea of animals having feelings toward humans gives meaning to the work. I think animals are much more intelligent than people assume. There is also the myth that cats are bound up with witchcraft.
The light was strong in the late summer so I exaggerated the colour making it brighter than reality. I think painting should be different and more dramatic than reality.
A hand written certificate of authenticity signed by the artist is included with the work.
