This is painted on a vintage page from Rotogravure Photo Album of New York from about the 1920s. Published by Williamsburg Post Card Co., New York City. This is sepia tone photos of New York city buildings, bridges streets and monuments, ships, hotels, parks, railway stations, etc.
Rotogravure (roto or gravure for short) is a type of intaglio printing process, which involves engraving the image onto an image carrier. In gravure printing, the image is engraved onto a cylinder and uses a rotary printing press. Once a staple of newspaper photo features, the rotogravure process is still used for commercial printing of magazines and postcards.
My how things change! What a wonderful glimpse of another time. Almost 100 years ago. Absolutely Fascinating!
