This is a shot from the "Tuscany Shades" series, part of my most sold and appreciated photography collection: "TUSCANY: LAND OF SOUL".
The group of cypresses depicted is probably the most universally recognized symbol of the Val d'Orcia in southern Tuscany, the region where I live.
The green hills of the Val d'Orcia are characterized are characterized by a dense vegetation, dotted with vineyards, olive groves, cypresses, beech and chestnut groves, a backdrop of marvelous castles, medieval villages and rural houses.
And the cypress trees are one of the protagonists of the Tuscan countryside, a true symbol of this region and specifically of the Val’ d’Orcia area; its presence in Tuscany dates back to several centuries before Christ when it was imported from Asia Minor and was particularly loved by the Etruscans.
If cypress trees are a symbol of Tuscany, there is no doubt that the “I Cipressini” (a little group of cypress trees) of San Quirico d’Orcia are the most photographed in the world.
The famous cypress trees of San Quirico d’Orcia grow on a low and soft hill. These evocative trees are among the most loved and photographed sights of Val d’Orcia and a true icon of Tuscany.
Silence, peace and beauty, these trees are the symbol of a uncontaminated nature and landscape.
