I used dried hydrangea blossoms and white and light green pearls in this encaustic painting. At a short distance it looks like a flock of birds or butterflies flying above an ocean. The petals and pearls add texture, and there's a silvery cast to some of the variety of shimmering shades of pearlized paint I've used. The top begins in turquoise and the colors grade downward to light blue. Powdered pearlized pigment, fused and blown with a heat gun, create this sense of sea foam near the bottom, or of waves on the ocean as seen from an airplane. Painted on cradled hardboard panel, this encaustic is framed in a silver canvas floater frame, deep enough to protect the textured surface. Fused, archival, signed and dated on the back, the painting comes with a digitally registered Certificate of Authenticity.
