A highly detailed original 22" x 30" or 55.88cm x 76.2cm, watercolor painting of 2 hyacinth macaws feasting on acuri palm nuts which is one of their favorite foods.
These birds are native to central and eastern South America, they can be found in abundance in Pantanal, the worlds largest tropical wetland nature preserve and one of the most pristine in the world.
With a length (from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail), of about one meter, it is longer than any other species of parrot. It is the largest macaw and the largest species of flying parrots.
I love their coloring, brilliant blue-violet with yellow accents around their beaks and eyes.
I enjoyed the challenge of recreating the natural look and feel of both the jungle and the parrots.
This is a very special and unusual work of art. I spent many hours on this painting, the strokes of watercolor paint are layered to illustrate the textures in the bird feathers, leaves, the acuri palm nuts and acuri open pod.
This painting has been painted with the highest quality watercolor paints and Arches 100% cotton 300gsm paper with deckled edges. The paint extends to the edges of the paper so it can be framed in a floating style if you wish.
This artwork ships flat, securely sealed in an archival sleeve in a cardboard box and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
