I met Ahoova (Huvi), at an art fair in Brooklyn, NY. She then visited my studio and we became friends. In this painting, Huvi represents the quintessential Brooklyn girl, simultaneously tough and vulnerable. Captured on a winter day, she's shielded in an warm outer layer of color and texture -- wool, down, and fur. But she looks out at the viewer with a direct gaze that projects cool confidence.
