As the title says, I was hurted at the time I made this self potrait. It is an attempt to show how beneath the happy colours a sad feeling is present, refering to the fact that a lot of people - including myself - are very good in covering up their true emotional status. I work from the depth to the surface, from my subconsiousness towards a consiousness image without getting to much into form; leaving room for the onviewer to constantly rediscover the piece. My clients often tell me that the piece(s) that they bought changes with their mood: when their happy, the painting is happy. Can you see the promise of a better tomorrow hidden in this artwork?
