Original artwork description:

This an outdoor painting created in the Hunsrück region of Germany. The Hunsrück is the area of higher ground above the Mosel valley, dotted with pretty villages, many of which have become subjects of my paintings since I love to paint houses and buildings in the landscape.
I set up my easel by the roadside and painted the scene before me, concentrating on the lush greens of high summer, even exaggerating them somewhat to give a fresh, modern feel to the painting.
The line of trees on the left, leads the eye to the cluster of buildings and distant trees beyond. The various greens are in contrast various areas which I have left white – the houses, and wildflowers – and this combination of white and different shades of green accentuates the freshness.

This pastoral painting is one of a series of plein paintings of the Hunsrück region. It comes mounted and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
