Twenty years ago I took my first tentative steps towards painting in oils under the fresh Spring foliage of some Beech trees in the woods that I now live next to and at the time had been helping coppice, the cut ash used to build my yurt. It’s inaugural show hosted a collaborative arts exhibition in a Brighton Park entitled ‘Eco-arts’. The painting needed to say something, so I used a pin to add an amusing, or not so amusing element:
