Original artwork description:

Plein air work (painted on location). I was attracted to this scene by the riot of color of blooming bougainvillea. When you paint en plein air, you have to work fast, because the light changes so quickly. Trying to catch the fleeting light and to convey the atmosphere of a very warm sunny day, I applied oil paint with bold thick brush strokes, not concerned about small details. The paint layer was so thick, that I ended up signing the piece by scratching into the wet paint.
