This winter I've been doing various studies of typical Dutch landscapes in foggy weather. I love our flat Dutch landscape with the endless cloudy skies, the beautiful forests and meadowlands. Nature is a never ending inspiration in my artwork.
There are several places in the Netherlands where wild horses are grazing wood-and moorland. These horses were gathering under a tree...standing in the snow and I loved the backlight in this scene which created a mysterious atmosphere. This oilpainting was painted from photograph on canvasboard.
