Original artwork description:

Painted en plein air (in the open air)during a Plein Air Paint out event in Hope Valley, California. The artists working outside face the challenging factors of weather, especially the light that changes from moment to moment, which of course, changes the colors, shadows, and general appearance of the scene. All of the artists at this event were capturing landscapes while dealing with the winds, heat or cold, wildlife, changes in sun and shadow, and friendly people watching over their shoulders.
Hope Valley is a very beautiful place. It rests at 7,000 feet on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada to the northeast of Carson Pass and south of Lake Tahoe. The valley has long been a favorite destination for fly fishermen, artists, photographers, day hikers, and a host of others who appreciate its beauty. Most famous for its fall colors, Hope Valley is a magnificent destination year-round.

Materials:
Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen on 1/8 MDF archival art panel, the back of the panel finished with melamine that prevents warping and deterioration. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.
