Mysterious and dreamlike, a unique etching.
A green and lush landscape, full of drama and intensity. The watery foreground leads to dark hills with lighter, brighter green in the background. When looking at this artwork, you could almost be drawn into a story.
It is unusual to print right to the edge of the paper when creating an etching (often a white border is left), but I have chosen to do so here, to create an atmosphere drama and intensity. I have also 'run the paper' twice through the printing press, re-inking the etched plate a second time, again adding depth and creating a slightly 'out of focus' effect that adds to it's dreamlike quality.
This etching is created on a zinc plate, etched with the design. Each time it is printed, different amounts of ink and colour are applied to the etched plate, making each print different and unique. This technique creates individual 'monoprints'. No two are the same, so they are editioned '1 of 1'.
To create this etching a zinc plate was used, aquatint (melting resin dust onto the plate with a flame, to allow the ink to 'grip'), litho crayon, acid and burnishing. The professional etching ink is smeared onto the etched plate and selectively removed. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a sheet of 'Somerset' heavy weight, white paper, on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image onto the paper.
This print is signed and dated on the rear (please see additional photograph).
A Signed Certificate of Authenticity will also be included.
Artwork will be sent to you carefully wrapped in tissue paper, in a sturdy cardboard tube.
