Original artwork description:

This is the second "Hope" piece that I've created - symbolising emergence into better, and happier times.
It is joyously full of lots of detail and hopefully will keep you captivated :)

I cut and constructed lots of different shaped flowers from watercolour paper and then sprayed each piece several times in watercolour and acrylic using a spray diffuser.

I created the piece as I went along, placing the leaves and ferns around the edge of the circle first, then added flowers from the centre outwards, and also three different sizes of butterfly.
Once the piece was constructed I lightly sprayed with a creamy white spray paint to mute the colours.
The whole piece is framed in a deep white box frame glazed with perspex.

The result is an intricate textured relief design revealing individual flowers and butterflies on closer inspection. And as with all my work the different shadows cast are as interesting a the piece itself!

Materials used:

Watercolour, acrylic and spray paint on watercolour paper in a deep box frame glazed with perspex
