‘HONIED SPRING’ is an acrylic and dye painting on unprimed canvas. It is 75x75cms in size, unframed and stretched over a wooden frame with steel corner braces. Honied Spring is part of a series of paintings inspired by a familiar location and in keeping with similar paintings made at this time focuses on memory and imagination. The location is Hesketh Park, Southport, U.K. I walk in this park every day. This Victorian park has extensive gardens and ornate fountains that have been restored and reconstructed. There are numerous nature trails, varied wildlife and a large lake. Pathways fall and rise in this green space, which is only moderately manicured. Viewpoints are varied. The conundrum I face in making paintings is that of capturing an ephemeral moment accompanied by fleeting emotions , and giving these nebulous sensations a physical reality and a commanding presence.
The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value.
