This three masted topsail schooner is almost silhouetted against the setting sun with the last glows of sunlight cast across a calm sea.

Three masted schooners, sometimes referred to a top gallant-yard schooners in a sense represented the final development of the merchant schooner. Such vessels typically of around 300 tons continued to operate until well into the twentieth century. With limited sail, as depicted here these ships were easy to manage in close waters.

Painted in a traditional realistic style with hints of impressionism yet with plenty of detail. The combination of painting technique and linen canvas provides a fairly smooth surface to much of the painting. The canvas size is 24 x 30 inches. As atmospheric seascapes go this one is aimed at evoking a calm and tranquil mood.

Supplied framed and ready to hang. Should the frame not be required a small reduction in price and shipping would be applied.

This original painting will be shipped in a robust purpose built plywood box to ensure safe and secure transit.
