Original artwork description:

This picture was a long time in the making. I had the original idea in 2015 when I stayed at a hotel in NYC and was inspired by a cabinet in the room. I thought two pets would look so appealing in front of it. When I eventually "found" the animals they didn't fit with the cabinet. I tried a fireplace. Nothing doing. Finally they bonded to this mid-century sideboard. I guess I am like a novelist, whose characters have their own ideas.

My relief collages are made entirely of paper, with no painting involved. They are glued in layers and different heights which give them a three dimensional effect. When I create room interiors I seek to give a sense of the person who occupies the space. Here we seem to be visiting the home of an organized but playful person, with a streak of nostalgia for another time, and one who is open to the unconditional love of pets.

This comes carefully matted and is ready for a 22" x 22" frame.

Materials used:

paper, wood veneer paper, museum board, glue
