Original artwork description:

I have produced a small Collection of concepts for sculpture inspired by
The Memphis Design Group. These designs are produced in a variety of techniques working from a page full of quickie 'large' thumbnail ideas.
This piece 'Sculpture No1' (1/4) is the first to be produced, painting directly onto a recycled litho plate to use for monoprinting., transferring the image to high quality paper using a Heidleburg roller press. There a 4 different prints of this design, as each printing of the plate produces a slightly different result (ie a quadromonoprint).
My work is usually very controlled so I likes the unpredictable nature, including halos
that resulted by painting directly onto the plate with printing inks.
The first one has a ghost blue background, left from a residue of previous printing and works well as a contrast.
The shape is asymmetric but would balance well as a sculpture.
THE PRINT HAS A PICTURE MOUNT

Materials used:

printing press ink, brush, turps,
